Colorful Cityscapes by Nancy Oleska
Location: SDWS Ed Center

This class will teach the role that color theory plays in creating vibrant exciting cityscape paintings. Students will receive instruction in the understanding of various color schemes, color theory and how to make a section that will effectively communicate the artist's intentions and feelings.
Day One: Exploring and Understanding color schemes.
Analogous, split complementary, tetradic and complementary color schemes will be discussed. To compare , students will execute a small painting in each in a traditional application.
Day Two:
We will explore the importance of neutrals and value to make our paintings appear more colorful and dramatic. Proper pigment selection will be discussed, and two paintings will be executed in a wet-into-wet application to encourage granulation.
